7. How to Request Access to Records
Submit a request using Form C to the Information Officer with proof of identity and payment (if applicable).
- Be in writing
- Include sufficient detail for identification of record(s)
- Explain the right being exercised and reason for access
8. Fees
- R140 initial request fee (for non-personal information)
- R2.00 per A4 page printed
- Other costs (e.g., flash drives, postage) depending on format
9. Grounds for Refusal
- Unreasonable infringement of third-party privacy
- Confidential commercial information
- Potential endangerment of life or security
- Records privileged in legal proceedings
10. Remedies
If access is refused, you may lodge an internal appeal or approach the Information Regulator or a competent court.
